- Betty: Redesigning the WSU Vancouver Intranet (843)
This group project, (with Rob Andrews, Sarah Davis, and Glen Brunton) is just entering its final stretch as I put together this portfolio. Betty is the internal knowledgebase and collaboration site for the WSU Vancouver Library. It includes an electronic "Answerbook," specialized information on instruction and collection development, a centralized repository for handouts and fliers, and a message board and blogs for staff communication. Betty was used regularly when it was first launched in 2006, but has since fallen into disuse: Information on the site was outdated, new information wasn't being posted, and staff communication has moved to other channels.
As a project for LI843: Web Design and Development, our group has evaluated the site, seeing what works and what doesn't, what the library staff like about site and what they never use, and then has used that knowledge to create a redesigned and updated Betty. As the team manager for this project I have tried to make sure that we have approached this redesign from the point of view of on trying to meet the information needs of the site’s users in a usable fashion.
Linked above you will find our original planning timeline as well as links to the current site in progress.
